Awareness brings opportunity for change. This is a phrase I heard during my time as a graduate student that has shaped so much of what I do, from my personal life to my professional life. As a therapist, I believe it is my role to provide the framework in which work can begin and awareness can grow, while the substance of what we do is filled by you. I place great value on honesty and transparency, believing that without those, growth is difficult to achieve. I am passionate about helping people find and reach heights they thought they could never achieve.
From a young age, I knew I eventually wanted to do something with psychology as I sought to understand those around me. In particular, I have always been interested in the intersection between the mind and the body. This led me to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in both psychology and kinesiology. I then went on to get my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family therapy, searching for a way to help others. I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), hypnotherapy, as well as the Gottman method and Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples.
As a lifetime golfer, I am also extremely passionate about working with athletes to improve their mental health in order to improve their overall performance. I know first hand the pressure that comes with competitive sport, as well as the heavy impact the brain has on how we succeed. I am currently working on becoming a Certified Mental Performance coach through the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), hoping to apply my work as a therapist into the performance world. I am also training to be a breath work coach for athletes or performers wanting to improve their craft.
Outside of work, you will find me spending a lot of time with my family exploring nature, endlessly searching for the next renovation project, creating a mess with arts and crafts, or dreaming up my next travel location. I also love reading, writing, and trying (but often failing) to be good at video games.
